The 2020s

The kick-off to the 2020s began with completely atypical restrictions — including a ban on the public — due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. However, the following years marked (albeit moderately) a return to normality, bringing together all the elements that made the Baja such an iconic event.

Almost halfway through the decade, João Ferreira has shown himself to be the great revelation in cars, with two victories so far at the wheel of his MINI. António Maio has broken his own record and is currently the all-time leader in motorbikes, with a total of eight victories on his trusty Yamaha WRC. In the Quads and SSVs, João Vale and Gonçalo Guerreira, both driving a Can-Am, have two wins to their names respectively.
