More than 20 years later, the mythical crossing through the Ribeira de Seda, at the Aldeia de Seda (Alter do Chão) is, once again, on the route, as part of the “South” lap, which is normally used by bikes’ Promotion classes (Classic, Maxi, Honda, Ladies e Master 50), as well as Promo A and B in four wheels, thus making it unavoidable for all participants.
But this won’t be the only journey through time on this year’s Baja Portalegre 500 for all those enrolled in the event (enrolments from August 26th until October 11th). The Avis Municipality tracks, also used in the first years of the Baja, are back, although some areas have never been used before.
Another new item in 2013 are 30 km in the Ponte de Sôr Municipality, which promise to give the Baja Portalegre 500 new emotions and competitiveness, be it for participants, or for spectators.
As for the rest, and as usual, the Baja’s program spreads throughout three days, from Thursday, October 31st to Saturday, November 2nd. The first day is reserved for technical and documental scrutineering, while the Super Special will be held on Friday, starting with the UTV/Buggy, Quads and Bikes, and finishing with the Autos. Between the two and the four wheels action, eyes will be set, for the third year in a row, on the Mini Baja’s young riders.
Saturday will be dedicated exclusively to a single 380 km Sector for Bikes, Quads and UTV/Buggy, while Autos will face two special stages (SS2 and SS3) with 200 km and 215 km, respectively. In between both SS’s, there will be a Service (20 minutes), a refuel (20 m) and a regrouping (at least 10 m). As for Bikes, Quads and UTVs, there should be four Service Areas along the route.
Therefore, all the ingredients for a thrilling off-road action weekend are gathered so as to make it an irresistible attraction no one will want to miss.
