Last year’s winner of the Baja Portalegre 500, Nani Roma is back in Alentejo, this time at the wheel of a Borgward Rally Team car.
The participation has a very clear goal: “The objective is to prepare the car for the Dakar, add up kilometers and get to know the car as quickly as possible in order to improve it.”
The Borgward BX7 Dkr EVO is equipped with a V8 5.0 liters Ford engine with an output of 350/400 hp. “The car is very good, but we are using different settings here than the ones used in Morocco. I will be racing with Dakar specs, which are not ideal for the Baja.”
The Spaniard explains the differences: “Basically, the setup of the suspension here is softer, the car caries less fuel and the gravity center is lower.” For the Dakar the formula is the opposite.
Roma is, therefore, facing the event as a test, stating: “We cannot lose the opportunity to put on kilometers.”
