The Qatari won the last round of the season, in Morocco, and gets to the Automóvel Club de Portugal event in second place, 20 points from the championship leader. After having won the WRC2 class at the Rally Spain last weekend, now in Portugal Al-Attiyah gets behind the wheel of a Ford HRX, a car which uses the old official Mitsubishi chassis and an engine from the American constructor.
“Wining this round is important for me. It’s the Championship’s best Baja. I know that so as to win the World Cup I will also depend on Vasiliev’s result, but I have my mind set on victory. It will be important to avoid problems because it’s a hard race. It’s almost a rally with only two special stages, one with 200 km, and the other with 212,” explained the Qatari.
