Scorable for the FIA Baja World Cup and the main Portuguese championships under the aegis of the FPAK and FMP, the 38th Baja Portalegre 500 promises another edition full of strong emotions for drivers, teams and the public. It will be from 17 to 19 October (Thursday to Saturday) that the top names in Portuguese off-road racing will join the international elite to battle it out for victory in one of the most famous Bajas on the world calendar. The Automóvel Club de Portugal event will be the fifth round of the FIA Baja World Cup, which starts in Saudi Arabia in February and also takes in Greece, Spain, Poland, Qatar and Dubai, before the final round at the end of November in Jordan.
Last year, João Ferreira took his second consecutive victory in the Portuguese event, with the MINI navigated by Filipe Palmeiro from Porto. In the motorbikes, Bruno Santos (Husqvarna) won his first race in Portalegre, as did Hélder Rodrigues (Can-Am), who secured his first victory in the SSV category. João Vale (Can-Am) 'did it again' in the Quads and young Domingos Cunha (Yamaha) also won the Mini Baja race.
In October, the thrills will return to the Alto Alentejo.
